maybe it began when the springer brothers and i built that first treehouse in the woods back behind the house. three levels, four ladders, a circuit of elevated bridges, all constructed of poplar and pole barn nails. or maybe it was in seventh grade shop class when i decided to build my own snurfer because my folks couldn’t afford to buy me that burton elite i spoke endlessly about. maybe it was was innate; a characteristic passed genetically from my grandfather to my father and finally to me. whenever it happened, and whatever it was caused by, something made me need to create.
